The Wedding Day

I just finished performing a wedding ceremony. It was beautiful with a beautiful bride, handsome groom, stunning flower girl, and wonderful music. It seemed that everything was perfect. The wedding started on time and went without a hitch. I've never performed such a flawless wedding. The surprising thing about the bride and groom was that the groom was so worried about everything going smoothly right up until it was over. It consumed his every thought. There was only ONE imperfection and that was the radio station coming in over the speakers! We aren't sure where it was coming from! It began about 1/2 hour before the ceremony and ended about 15 minutes after it was over!! THe groom said it was the only thing he could concentrate on during the ceremony!!

It got me to thinking about weddings. Everything leads up to this most amazing day - from the time you say YES to the moment it's over. But about about the days after? What happens then?? I think too often we get wrapped up in the event, but we miss the whole point - spending a lifetime together!

I heard the best quote once - "God says, 'You invite me to the wedding, now invite me to the marriage.'" Isn't that the truth? The couple is committed about having the ceremony in the church, but can't commit to the ETERNITY with God!! I pray that this couple feels God pushing them to be a part of Him and get involved with a church - God can perform miracles!

I pray that you will look at your own marriage and see of God is a part of it. God has become a part of ours and I am so very thankful for that!!
O God,
I seek You right now.
I have forgotten to include You in our marriage.
Please forgive me.
I want YOU to be the head of our household.
I seek You to guide us in the finances and in raising our kids.
I ask You to take over when we disagree.
Thank You for bringing us together
and thank You for being a part of our wedding.
Now, will You be a part of our marriage?
I invite You in now.
In the name of Jesus, I pray.
AMEN.
May God bless your marriage from this day on!
Your sister in Christ,
Pastor Heather
